Internet security firm eEye Digital Security said they've found yet another flaw in the Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE). This is just one of several eEye's found in recent months and one in a long list found by them and other groups.
The vulnerability exists in default installations of the affected software that could allow for remote code execution. The flaw would allow hackers to launch a remote attack on the Windows XP and XP SP2.
Considering that Microsoft still has some vulnerabilities that have been floating around since March and there are a dozen others. This doesn't bode well for the outlook of IE. Microsoft has already delayed the release of Vista for a year because of security problems with XP. As a matter of fact, that's the second exploit they've found this month. The first one has been out for 15 days now. eEye considers anything over 60 days overdue.
Also, Microsoft delayed their patch Tuesday this month because of quality issues for a high level security flaw. Back in August, Microsoft released a patch and for those not hasty enough with loading it, worms were out quickly to irritate the standard PC user.
As Microsoft prepares for the release of Vista, security will be the paramount issue. They've integrated many tools, but to maintain their lead on the ever encroaching entity of Mozilla with their Firefox, Microsoft must get a grip on these issues. Let's hope with Vista that they do.
