You always have to check and make sure the cure isn't worse than the disease. It seems the folks at Apple are finding this out as they've recently pulled their OS X critical security update because it broke their 64-bit apps.

Apple sent out the patch on Monday to plug up several major holes in the OS X and it did just that but in the process, it rendered all 64-bit optimized applications useless and forced many companies and customers to become quite angry and utter many colorful expletives not suitable for publication in this forum.

The big question is why and that question has yet to be answered. As of yet, the folks at Apple are fruitless on the fix and have recalled the patch for the moment until a cure can be found the problem. According to techworld. Wolfram Research issued a statement to their customers regarding their Mathematical 5.2 program, which quit working as a result of the patch. Their statement said Apple had no end around that means folks with the patch already are stuck.

So lets put this in perspective. Apple puts out a release and it screws up the system. Microsoft puts out a release and if you don't get it, your system is screwed, as many businesses did yesterday. You can't win for losing.
