Email and file transfer security solutions provider Tumbleweed Communications has announced the release of the latest version of its MailGate AntiSpam Appliance.

According to a press release, this version supports high-availability deployment of multiple cooperating appliances, including automated load balancing, centralized quarantine queues, single sign-on to all of the appliances in the cluster, and shared configuration data.

Multi-server deployments are managed via Enterprise Manager, a centralized administration interface that runs directly on any one of the live primary appliances.

"The simplicity, performance and rapid deployment time of dedicated appliances makes them very appealing when implementing a security infrastructure," said Brian Burke, Research Manager of Security Products, IDC. "By adding the ability to centrally manage multiple devices through a single interface, Tumbleweed provides more options for IT organizations, and flexible method for securing email networks that scales with an organization's requirements."

The company writes:

The volume and complexity of malicious email traffic continues to grow at an alarming rate, and, with it, the requirement for increasingly powerful, flexible security solutions. Organizations -- particularly large enterprises -- are faced with the challenge of regularly improving their email security arsenal, while at the same time limiting the costs and complexity associated with upgrading to more powerful solutions. With the introduction of MailGate Anti-Spam Appliance 2.5 with Enterprise Manager, Tumbleweed is bridging the gap between the simplicity and cost-effectiveness required for smaller organizations, and the enterprise-class features, transparent clustering, and high availability required for large scale enterprises.

"Tumbleweed is the only vendor to provide this level of scalability and performance through an appliance without the need for a dedicated console," said John Thielens, CTO of Tumbleweed. "This gives our customers great flexibility to tailor solutions for their environments, and to scale their email infrastructure without scaling cost or complexity."

MailGate AntiSpam Appliance version 2.5 is now available to be used alone, or with other Tumbleweed email security products.
