Preventsys announced a technology partnership with Rapid7, the provider of NeXpose vulnerability assessment and risk management software.

Under this partnership, joint customers will benefit from a more comprehensive security solution that helps them stay ahead of security threats.

The Preventsys Enterprise Security Management (ESM) system will retrieve vulnerability scan results from Rapid7's NeXpose, then process and semantically correlate the data with other network information using its patent-pending SMART Engine, and concisely display the relevant, prioritized data on the Preventsys central security dashboard.

"Preventsys customers will be able to leverage their investment in Rapid7's robust vulnerability management application to create automated compliance reports with our Enterprise Security Management system and to gain a better view of the state of network security via our centralized security dashboard," said Ray Komar, vice president of business development for Preventsys. "More and more Global 2000 enterprises and government agencies are seeing the importance of quantifying risk, reporting on compliance and eliminating vulnerabilities and are turning to companies like Preventsys and Rapid7 to automate this process and reduce their security exposure."

Rapid7's NeXpose Version 4.0 is an enterprise vulnerability assessment and risk management software solution that offers a broad range of capabilities and outstanding flexibility without adding complexity. NeXpose features a centralized database, an artificial intelligence engine that performs vulnerability exploits, and unlimited network scan engines that probe operating systems, databases, applications and the Web for vulnerabilities and policy violations. By conducting widespread systems testing and coverage, NeXpose provides a comprehensive assessment of risk in the environment.

"Partnering with Preventsys is a logical move, as the integration of our network security intelligence can provide greater assurance to customers that their environment is free from cyber-attacks," said Alan Matthews, president of Rapid7. "Preventsys and Rapid7 both take a proactive approach to network security, which is instrumental in attaining the accuracy we deliver. Customers will benefit tremendously from the interaction of our corresponding best practices."

Preventsys has pioneered an award-winning enterprise security management system for large enterprises that are frustrated with the difficulty of managing multiple vulnerability assessment and configuration management tools to create risk and compliance reports. Unlike security event management (SEM) products that centralize data from security sensors for event monitoring and managed incident response, the Preventsys Enterprise Security Management System integrates best-of-breed security assessment tools into a central security dashboard, dramatically cutting costs and reducing the time it takes to create comprehensive, custom risk and compliance reports from weeks to seconds.
