McAfee announced the availability of Streaming Updates for McAfee SpamKiller and McAfee WebShield Appliances.
With Streaming Updates, McAfee SpamKiller and McAfee WebShield customers are now able to receive proactive spam updates every five to ten minutes, providing the most proactive protection against spammers and their evolving techniques.
According to a recent report by Computer Economics, it is now estimated that 70% of all e-mail is spam. Threats are becoming more diverse, intrusive and subversive, and although they do not always have the aim of causing direct disruption to business productivity, that is often the effect. With coordinated efforts between spammers and virus writers, and the growing trend of phishing e-mails, it is important that organizations implement the most comprehensive coverage against inappropriate, malicious, or viral content.
"McAfee has made continuous strides to increase the frequency of its spam filtering technology to address the changes in spammers' tactics," said Vincent Rossi, senior vice president of product management and product marketing, McAfee, Inc. "As spammers evolve and become more sophisticated in their methods, Streaming Updates will ensure excellent detection rates and proactively protect our enterprise customers from new types of spam email, including phishing, pharming and viruses.
McAfee SpamKiller and McAfee WebShield appliances are both part of the McAfee Secure Content Management solutions group, and are designed to deliver secure content management technology at the edge of the network to help businesses optimize resources, increase productivity and reduce their exposure to threats. The solutions provide both reactive and proactive spam detection techniques which, combined with increased incremental updates and technology improvements, offer small to large businesses the most up-to-date protection against unwanted email. With new Streaming Updates available every five to ten minutes, customers can prevent new sophisticated methods of spam, prevent virus infections and phishing attacks, reclaim network bandwidth and address issues such as regulatory compliance and legal liability.
McAfee SpamKiller and McAfee WebShield Appliance customers can access the Streaming Update service now through the McAfee Appliance Activation Package, which enables McAfee Streaming Updates to be automatically installed and updated on the McAfee SpamKiller and McAfee WebShield appliances.
