Symantec To Host Webcast For Developers

Symantec announced that it will host a webcast providing guidance on how developers can build more secure applications.
The webcast, titled "Securing the Requirements and Design Phases of the Application Development Lifecycle" will be held on Thursday, June 16, at 9:00 a.m. PDT.
Rob Cheyne, managing security instructor at Symantec, will discuss the requirements and design phases of the application development lifecycle, specifically addressing security strategies, definitions, architecture assessments, threat modeling, and security use case methodology. This webcast is the second in a three-part series where each phase of the development lifecycle is examined to focus on what security items can be addressed in each phase.
"Organizations continue to build more complex and sophisticated applications to run their online businesses. At the same time, consumers and businesses have attained a certain level of trust regarding online activity and security," said Cheyne. "By focusing on the security risks inherent in the application development process, developers can apply these security development principles to any programming language or technology, and ensure that security flaws are addressed during development."
Developers who are tasked with designing and creating various types of software applications are encouraged to attend.
