Juniper Networks announced that Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) of Bangkok, Thailand has secured and assured its network edge infrastructure with the Juniper Networks M-series Multiservice Edge Routing Platform.
SWU chose to upgrade its routing infrastructure with Juniper Networks M7i to improve reliability, increase network security, and better handle growing traffic volumes.
"Our existing routing equipment was relatively unstable, could not handle our increasing traffic volumes, and lacked the security features available on the Juniper Networks platform," said Mr. Saroch Moulanont, director of SWU's Computer Centre. "With the Juniper Networks M7i, we are able to connect our campuses to each other and to the Internet with the security and performance assurance demanded of a leading educational and research institution."
The M7i Multiservice edge routing platform is an ideal enterprise routing solution for head offices, campuses and corporate backbones needing reliable, secure and high performance IP WAN connectivity, Internet access and services. The M7i Multiservice routers use a high-performance hardware based architecture and JUNOS, a proven carrier class operating system. This ensures rich packet processing with uncompromising forwarding performance to support latency sensitive applications such as voice, video, and mission critical applications.
"Providing robust network service to a modern academic campus means having an infrastructure with the ability to handle not just basic email and file sharing but high performance routing of voice, video and advanced real-time network applications," said Laomanon. "With the Juniper Networks M-series, we're able to meet these demanding requirements with minimum administrative overhead and the scalability to support future needs as requirements evolve."
"SWU provides network services to thousands of users, and a university can be a popular target for network hackers," said Isara Premthamakorn, Juniper Networks' country manager for Thailand. "With our M-series platform, SWU has ensured that its students and faculty benefit from the inherent stability and security of the Juniper Networks solution, and minimized intrusion threats and other forms of network abuse. A reliable and secure infrastructure underpins the Infranet vision of an advanced public communications infrastructure."
