Sarvega announced enhancements to the company's XML Guardian Gateway product, which now delivers 18% to 43% better performance.

The company claims that the Sarvega XML Guardian Gateway has consistently outperformed the market in XML Web Services threat mitigation and performance. This leadership is highlighted by the technology editors of CMP Media LLC's Network Computing in their XML Firewall Report dated May 3, 2005. With XML Guardian's enhancements, Sarvega increases its lead in performance and threat mitigation, expands its support of Web Services authentication and authorization, and makes it easy for enterprises to configure complex security policies for large scale Web Services implementations.

The Sarvega XML Guardian Gateway adds support for the WS-Trust specification and IBM's Tivoli Access Manager for Authentication and Authorization, increasing XML Guardian's ability to establish trust amongst Web Services. WS-Trust defines the extensions to WS-Security for issuing and exchanging security tokens and defines ways to establish and access the presence of trust relationships. With WS-Trust support, the XML Guardian ensures interoperability between the multiple formats used by security tokens in a WS-Security transaction. It also provides trust interoperability across different trust domains.

With XML Guardian's robust signature and policy based protection, Network Computing's Report rated the Sarvega XML Guardian Gateway the top XML vulnerability protection product in the market. Sarvega increases its lead in this area by adding the industry's only anomaly-based XML Web Services vulnerability detection and protection capability.

Sarvega XML Guardian Gateway is deployed widely to secure enterprise and government Web Services, including the largest single-site XML Firewall implementation in the world. XML Guardian's overall performance and Web Services protection are key reasons for its success. Another is its configuration and policy management tool, the Sarvega Command Center. This powerful, easy to use tool is based on the Eclipse framework. The Sarvega Command Center offers WSDL-based automatic default policy wizards that generate default policies with strong, built-in threat mitigation. Sarvega Command Center's flexible framework offers sophisticated visual security templates and makes it easy to change security policies, simplifying Web Services security enforcement. It also supports the deployment of security policies to multiple XML Guardian Gateways in a simple, one-step operation.

"While we are pleased with how well Network Computing rated XML Guardian's security features and performance, including their acknowledgement of Guardian's ability to provide the price-performance and best protection for signature based and day-zero threats, Sarvega's recent enhancements make XML Guardian an even better choice to protect Web Services applications," said Girish Juneja, senior vice president of product management for Sarvega. "And our recent enhancements in Web Services security performance, XML Web Services threat mitigation, Web Services trust enhancement, and simpler functional management extends our leadership over all silicon-based competitors in the market. This makes XML Guardian the best price-performance solution for enterprises and governments."

Sarvega XML Guardian Gateway

The Sarvega XML Guardian Gateway combines comprehensive security, performance, and ease of use to deliver XML Firewall, Web Services trust enablement and Web Services protection to Web Services and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) deployments. It provides the best protection against "day-zero" XML threats with its ability to enable default provisioning of security features and its signature-based and anomaly based threat prevention. XML Guardian offers comprehensive Web Services AAA Capability with interfaces to CA SiteMinder, LDAP, Microsoft Active Directory, and Tivoli Access Manager. It provides complete support for UNP Tokens, including username with digest passwords. XML Guardian delivers industry leading support for fine-grained xDoS (XML Denial of Service) Protection, SAML, cross-domain Credential Mapping, ebXML Security, and high-performance transformation in a highly available appliance that is certified as Tivoli Ready and CA Smart.

Sarvega's XML Guardian Gateway is cited by Network Computing as the only solution with the ability to handle complex, real-world security policies at near-zero latency. It simplifies provisioning of both inbound and outbound Web Services response security and provides compliance checking on all outbound Web Services traffic. Guardian Gateway is the only product to provide a real time snapshot of XML Firewall operations and functions through its ability to offer real time graphing. It is the only solution to embed a FIPS certified cryptographic solution in addition to EAL 4+ Common Criteria certification underway.

The Sarvega Command Center provides a simple visual drag-and-drop and multi-unit management for security policy configuration, testing, and deployment on one or many XML Guardian Gateway appliances. With its unique Automatic XPath Generator, the Sarvega Command Center is the only management interface to enable policy provisioning with zero knowledge of XPath.
