Checkpoint Systems has expanded its automated data collection capabilities with the acquisition of three asset protection solutions from Security Source.
According to Checkpoint, the acquisition is not considered a material transaction. Terms were not disclosed.
The three products acquired by Checkpoint focus on collection, management and reporting services that enable retailers to collect real-time data, then connect it across the entire retail enterprise to help control shrink. The products, DataSource, AuditSource and InsightSource, deliver a range of mission critical functionalities spanning real-time data collection to predictive modeling.
Below is a brief overview of each solution:
DataSource
This product is a third generation data collection solution that automates EAS system management. By utilizing a patented reason identification technique, it allows retailers to understand the performance of the EAS system and LP personnel. Its web-based reporting system provides store, regional and corporate information needed to manage loss prevention systems. Additional functionality, including people counting and service monitoring, is fully integrated with web-based reporting capabilities. This solution is compatible with both Checkpoint and third-party EAS systems.
AuditSource
Auditing process compliance is an important management tool for retailers. Using advanced mobile computing and wireless technologies, this product eliminates paper-based auditing systems, automating in-store data collection and reporting. This system enables rapid information flow and reduces administrative burdens through its web-based reporting system.
InsightSource
This product is an analytics-based software platform currently in development that connects data from multiple sources to facilitate decision-making. This tool will provide retailers with more information to help them manage store operations and inventory more efficiently.
These products will be rolled-up and re-branded into Checkpoint's CheckPro Manager product platform.
"The acquisition of these technologies is of particular benefit to our retail clients because it enhances their capability to manage and monitor their loss prevention investments and the effectiveness of their staff on an ongoing, real-time basis," said Dave Donnan, President of Checkpoint, North America. "We make sure our clients have the most advanced technology available to help them sell more and lose less."
