Fortinet's FortiGate-3600 integrated network security systems have been named a 2005 Well-Connected Award Finalist in the Network Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) category by CMP Media LLC Network Computing Magazine.
Prompting this nomination was Fortinet's numerical first place-tie in Network Computing's January 20, 2005 comparative review of intrusion protection products based on the manageability, ease of use, and comprehensive feature set of its FortiGate-3600 system.
This nomination marks the second consecutive year Fortinet's FortiGate systems have been lauded by Network Computing Magazine. In 2004, the systems earned the coveted "Security Product of the Year" award as well as "Best Multi-function Security Appliance" award. Since introduced in 2002, Fortinet and its FortiGate systems have won numerous prestigious industry awards worldwide.
FortiGate-3600 systems are ideal for large enterprises and managed security service providers (MSSPs) with requirements for gigabit performance and exceptional reliability. The systems offer six gigabit-capacity interfaces and up to 4 Gbps real time secure throughput to enable a new generation of protection against today's increasingly content-based attacks. By combining robust intrusion prevention capabilities with an array of security applications -- including firewall, antivirus, virtual private networking (VPN), anti-spam, content filtering and traffic shaping -- FortiGate systems offer the most comprehensive, cost-effective unified threat management solution available.
Network Computing's Well-Connected Awards honor the year's outstanding technology products and services. They represent the very best products and services the technology industry has to offer in networking, and are chosen by the technology editors of Network Computing from products that have been tested and evaluated in the publication's Real-World Labs.
"For the 11th year in a row, Network Computing will be recognizing the most outstanding tech products and services in the networking and IT world in our Well-Connected award 4/28 issue," says Mike Lee, editor of Network Computing magazine. "The awards are a snapshot in time, the best of what we evaluated over 12 months in our Real-World Labs -- more than 134 finalists in more than 44 categories have been named."
"Maintaining complete content security in today's sophisticated threat environment requires unifying network intrusion prevention with other critical required security applications in a manner that is both easy to manage and cost-effective to deploy," said Adam Stein, vice president of marketing at Fortinet. "As the market leader in Unified Threat Management, we're pleased the editor's of Network Computing recognize Fortinet's best in class security application benefits and the value our FortiGate-3600 system delivers."
