McAfee announced that the Software Council of Southern California has recognized George Kurtz, senior vice president of risk management, as the Software CEO of the Year...
...at its 11th annual Software Industry Awards for his excellence, leadership and entrepreneurial spirit in directing growth and product innovation while at Foundstone, Inc. McAfee, Inc. acquired Foundstone in October of 2004, and Kurtz is currently responsible for driving the product strategy and roadmap for the Foundstone portfolio of risk management and mitigation solutions.
"It is an honor to be recognized for the contributions, success and achievements that Foundstone made in 2004. This award would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the entire Foundstone team," said George Kurtz, senior vice president of risk management at McAfee, Inc. "Now, as part of McAfee, we are continuing to push the envelope in delivering best of breed security products, services and solutions, and I am proud to continue that legacy."
The Software Industry Awards recognize leaders who have made outstanding contributions to the industry, and measure the continuing growth and influence of the software industry in Southern California, representing over 8,000 companies and tens of thousands of talented employees. This is the second time that Kurtz has been recognized by the Software Council for his contributions to the Foundstone business, and was named Entrepreneur of the Year in 2003. The Software Industry Awards are given to Southern Californian software pioneers who received the highest aggregate ratings in corporate growth, team building, product innovation, legislative activities pertinent to the software industry and involvement in industry trade organizations.
"Recipients of our annual Software Industry Awards showcase the best and brightest of Southern California's leaders in the software and IT industry," said Jon Kraft, chairman of the board of the Software Council of Southern California. "We are thrilled to honor George Kurtz for his accomplishments while at the helm of Foundstone, and continue to support him in his endeavors at McAfee."
