Symantec announced that it will host a webcast on how to proactively protect against the increasing risk of spyware through robust client protection.
The webcast, titled "Spyware and Increasing Security Risks -- Proactive Protection for The Enterprise Client" will be held on Thursday, April 7, at 9:00 a.m. PDT.
Brian Foster, senior director of product management for Client and Host at Symantec, will provide guidance on how to proactively protect the enterprise from spyware and increasing security risks through robust client protection, centralized management and ease of administration. Foster will also discuss new anti-spyware protection features in Symantec Client Security 3.0 and Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10.0.
"Spyware and adware have existed for years, but within the last year have become one of the highest security concerns for enterprise customers," said Foster. "Combating spyware and adware requires a solid solution and dedicated research and response mechanism to track new spyware risks and provide timely updates as the threat landscape evolves."
Spyware programs pose significant risk for an organization, especially given that they can be installed on a system without the user's knowledge and significantly impact the integrity of confidential information. A 2005 Forrester survey of IT decision-makers found that 40 percent of respondents did not know how many systems in their organization were infected with spyware. Those who could measure the number of systems with spyware found that about 20 percent of systems were infected, and the number is growing rapidly.
