WatchGuard Technologies filed a complaint in federal court in the Northern District of Texas against a terminated former employee, Michael N. Valentine, and his new employer, SonicWALL.
WatchGuard filed the complaint to prevent the misappropriation of WatchGuard's trade secrets and to enjoin the acts of unfair competition by its former employee, Valentine, and SonicWALL. In the complaint, WatchGuard seeks damages, as well as preliminary and permanent injunctive relief against both Valentine and SonicWALL.
"We feel strongly about the value of our intellectual property and intend to aggressively protect it from misappropriation as well as ensure that legal obligations to the company are upheld," said Ed Borey, WatchGuard chief executive officer.
