F-Secure has implemented an enterprise reporting solution from Cognos, the world leader in business intelligence and corporate performance management (CPM).

F-Secure required a flexible, easy-to-use solution that integrated with its existing SAP systems to report on global sales performance in a timely manner. Most importantly, it had to offer multilingual support so that reports could be created, read and altered in the seven countries worldwide where the company operates. In choosing Cognos ReportNet(TM), the company has standardized on Cognos and consolidated all its sales reporting requirements with a single solution.

Prior to the roll-out of Cognos ReportNet, managers used a variety of applications including Excel and bespoke forms to track information and produce reports. As a result, they often disagreed over whose reports were the most accurate for senior management to use to make decisions.

F-Secure has been a Cognos customer for five years, and uses the Cognos Enterprise Business Intelligence (EBI) Series in conjunction with SAP systems across its global operations. It uses Cognos DecisionStream to extract data from SAP and Siebel systems, and Cognos(R) PowerPlay for analysis. By implementing Cognos ReportNet, decision makers around the globe will be able to easily access and report on sales data.

"We have been working together with Cognos for years to build a long-term information strategy and to lay a foundation for driving our performance," said Taneli Virtanen, CFO at F-Secure Corporation. "Cognos is enabling us to improve our corporate performance because we now have a single version of the truth in our sales operations. Standardizing on Cognos allows us to reduce costs and we're already saving time on reporting and analysis. Senior management is now able to spend more time on analyzing the numbers, instead of arguing if the numbers are correct."

Using Cognos, managers and decision-makers at F-Secure can instantly access, analyze and report on the performance of international sales channels, as well as analyze sales data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Cognos ReportNet is Web-based, so the critical business data is available online from any location in real-time, saving significant time in report generation and distribution. F-Secure also plans to use Cognos ReportNet to report on, and improve, the performance of other business areas and departments going forward.

"F-Secure has a strong global presence and needs simple tools to provide accurate management reports on sales performance. Giving everyone the means to access the same data ensures reports are consistent and means future decisions can be made based on up-to-date and accurate information," said Ad Voogt, senior vice president of European Operations at Cognos. "In standardizing on Cognos, we're confident F-Secure will experience a number of benefits that have a real impact on the bottom line."
