Network Engines announced that Bryan Bain has been hired to fill the newly created position of Senior Director of Security Marketing.

Bain, formerly Vice President of Worldwide Marketing and Product Management for CyberGuard, brings more than 18 years of networking and security experience to lead Network Engines' efforts to provide best practice solutions for Microsoft-centric environments.

"As we focus resources on the growth of our NS Series application firewall business, we created a position to exclusively address the marketing requirements that are related to this tremendous opportunity," said Mike Riley, vice president of marketing and strategy for Network Engines. "We are delighted to leverage Bryan's deep expertise within our organization."

Bain will focus his efforts around Network Engines' NS Series of application firewalls, which are powered by Microsoft ISA Server 2004. These products are specifically designed for businesses and organizations that rely on Microsoft business applications such as Exchange. NS Series application firewalls ensure secure access to those applications without compromising their rich functionality.

"2004 was the most costly year on record in terms of damage attributed to information security breeches," said Bryan Bain. "With black hats targeting specific application vulnerabilities, it is clear that the one-size-fits-all, network-layer security approach cannot adequately protect the enterprise. With Microsoft as a core technology partner, enterprises can now look to Network Engines for the prescriptive architecture necessary to properly secure application infrastructures."

Prior to his tenure with CyberGuard, Bryan Bain held several senior-level marketing and business development positions within the networking and security arena. Among them, he was responsible for developing the business strategy, product roadmap, marketing plan, go-to-market strategy and technology partnerships that resulted in the merger of Netilla Networks.

Bain's previous experience includes positions as Regional VP of Sales, Marketing and Business Development, Americas East for Array Networks, Managing Partner at iVision Associates and Managing Director, North American Sales, Marketing for Alteon Web Systems. Bain received his Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Western Maryland College.
