Jenny Craig has deployed a full network security platform from Fortinet to protect and manage its corporate headquarters, Web hosting site, and more than 100 remote Centers worldwide.
Before rolling out a new Web-based client profiling application, Jenny Craig realized the need to boost security and network capabilities to protect its personal customer data and improve operational efficiencies from its remote retail Centers. The company looked for a solution to protect its data against evolving network threats such as viruses and spyware, secure remote Centers, and control Web access. Most of Jenny Craig's retail Centers did not have on-site technical staff, and its headquarters' IT department had to remotely manage their existing virtual private network (VPN) client software. The company needed a way to centrally-manage these sites while easing the burden of providing and maintaining secure connectivity.
With all of these factors to consider, Jenny Craig evaluated and benchmarked several leading security solutions and selected Fortinet for its integrated network security platform that includes a full-range of the essential security services, such as antivirus, firewall, intrusion detection and prevention, Web content filtering and spyware blocking at both the perimeter and core of their network.
"We chose Fortinet's FortiGate and FortiManager systems because of the comprehensive feature set, pricing and centralized management of Fortinet's network security platform," said Jeff Nelson, IT director for Jenny Craig. "Since implementing the Fortinet solution, we have had no known incidence of malware on our center PCs and we have maximized IT resources because we can centrally manage our remote users through automatic updates, making this a successful, hands-off experience for us."
Jenny Craig's Fortinet deployment included more than 100 FortiGate-60 systems in its retail Centers around the world, which are securely connected to headquarters through secure IPsec VPN tunnels. The company also installed two FortiGate-800 enterprise-class systems for high availability capabilities at its headquarters and two FortiGate-400 systems at its Web hosting provider to effectively authenticate all access to company intranet-based resources. Jenny Craig centrally manages and configures all of its FortiGate systems using the real-time reporting and logging capabilities of Fortinet's FortiManager platform.
The FortiGate systems receive automatic updates for antivirus signatures with Fortinet's FortiProtect Network as well as Web content filtering in all Centers to control Web access. The systems cost-effectively deliver Complete Content Protection through the integration of a broad range of security functions in real time -- including antivirus, firewall, virtual private networking (VPN), intrusion detection and prevention (IDP), content filtering, traffic shaping, spyware blocking, and anti-spam.
"Distributed retail enterprises require real-time network security to protect company and customer data wherever it resides, and must also be able to easily and efficiently manage numerous remote sites and VPNs," said Adam Stein, vice president of corporate marketing for Fortinet. "For Jenny Craig, their investment in Fortinet's network security platform provides them with a cost-effective, best-in-class integrated solution to secure their entire distributed IT infrastructure without slowing network performance, which is absolutely critical when running Web-based applications."
