Astaro announced an update to its award-winning flagship perimeter security package that includes major spam protection enhancements - dramatically improving the blocking of unwanted email messages.
Astaro Security Linux V5.1 also enables easy integration with network management systems, and adds features that allow customers to monitor bandwidth usage.
"The variety and sheer numbers of threats to corporate computer networks change by the hour and IT managers are looking for a powerful, cost-effective solution that meets this ever-shifting landscape head-on," said Astaro CEO Jan Hichert. "Astaro Security Linux V5.1 builds on all the award-winning features available with V5.0 by adding sophisticated spam blocking features and management tools that eliminate threats and empower IT staff to act quickly, thereby ensuring overall security of corporate IT assets."
Improved Spam Blocking
Astaro Security Linux V5.1 key new features include SPF record checking, greylisting, BATV reverse path signing, list of quarantined emails for users, use of additional spam databases. All anti-spam features can be enabled or disabled from the Astaro Security Linux WebAdmin interface, and in some cases can be enabled or disabled for specific email recipients.
Network Management
Astaro Security Linux V5.1 supports the use of SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) Traps to communicate system information like anti-virus and network outages in real time to network management systems such as HP OpenView, CA Unicenter, and IBM Tivoli. SNMP trap sending can be configured from the Astaro Security Linux WebAdmin interface.
Bandwidth Monitoring
This feature provides alerts when bandwidth limits are exceeded and allows administrators to respond quickly to unexpected changes.
