Symantec Premium AntiSpam, an optional add-on subscription service for Symantec Mail Security and Symantec AntiVirus Enterprise Edition customers, is scheduled to be available this month.

Symantec Premium AntiSpam, powered by Brightmail technology and response, provides best-of-breed spam prevention without requiring additional administration or software installation.

Raising the bar for enterprise spam prevention, Symantec Premium AntiSpam add-on subscription service delivers the best combination of effectiveness and accuracy available in the market today. Multi-layered spam prevention leverages more than 20 filtering technologies, including spam signatures, heuristics, reputation filters, language identification and proprietary methods, with automatic updates occurring within every 10 minutes. The service enables organizations to achieve high detection rates of 95 percent and the industry's highest accuracy rate against false positives (99.9999 percent), allowing users to safely delete spam without review. No new software or hardware is required, and the service requires no additional IT administration or tuning once deployed.

"Symantec Premium AntiSpam showcases Symantec's ongoing commitment to providing its customers with the most innovative and technically proficient mail security solutions on the market," said Enrique Salem, senior vice president, network and gateway solutions, Symantec Corp. "Symantec Premium AntiSpam is a clear demonstration of Symantec's ability to quickly integrate market-leading technology, acquired from Brightmail, into our existing product line."

Symantec Mail Security for Domino, Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange and Symantec Mail Security for SMTP each provide high-performance, integrated mail protection against virus threats, spam, and other unwanted content. Symantec's award-winning extensible NAVEX antivirus technology defends against new and known viruses, while attachment and subject line blocking provide hour-zero responses against emerging threats. Symantec Mail Security solutions include spam tools such as antispam heuristics, custom filtering rules, support for third-party real-time blacklists, as well as custom allow and blocks lists.

Symantec AntiVirus Enterprise Edition, which comprises the Symantec Mail Security product line, provides virus protection, content filtering, and spam prevention for the groupware server and gateway, and virus protection for the desktop in a single, easy-to-deploy solution. It combines award-winning technologies and Symantec's global response infrastructure to provide effective protection at every network tier.
