TippingPoint announced that security information from its UnityOne Intrusion Prevention Systems now integrates with the Symantec Security Management System (SSMS).
SSMS correlates information across multiple security devices for reduced research and remediation time. Toyota-Europe is using the integrated solution from TippingPoint and Symantec.
"We are committed to achieving the best possible balance between effective layered security and ease of administration," said Richard Cross, Information Security Officer at Toyota-Europe. "We are using the premier intrusion prevention system combined with the leading security information management product, for a defense-in-depth strategy."
TippingPoint security data integrates into the Symantec Enterprise Security Architecture, the security platform powering the SSMS. Partner integration contributes to the overall security and availability of customer enterprise information by enabling the aggregation and normalization of security events for rapid analysis by security administrators.
"Symantec in conjunction with TippingPoint is helping enterprises mitigate security risk and maximize business opportunity by keeping corporate assets safe and employees productive," said Symantec's Rowan Trollope, vice president, security management solutions. "Collaborative development is appreciated by our mutual customers as it streamlines monitoring and maintenance of increasingly complex systems."
"As intrusion prevention systems continue to emerge as a critical component of network security, the integration between Symantec's Security Management System and TippingPoint's UnityOne Intrusion Prevention System will help end users show regulatory compliance and return on investment (ROI) through reporting on blocked attacks, in addition to cutting down on time and resources through proactive prevention," said TippingPoint's CTO Marc Willebeek-LeMair. "The integration will give end users in-depth information on threats while preventing attacks."
TippingPoint's value proposition for end users comes with saved time, expenses and damages associated with preventing threats. Although customers' savings will vary per blocked attack depending on their unique environment, TippingPoint's reports on prevented threats can easily be used to calculate ROI for executives. Through integration with third party security management systems to show blocked attacks, customers can demonstrate best-practices and compliance in security audits.
TippingPoint's UnityOne provides Application Protection, Performance Protection and Infrastructure Protection at gigabit speeds through total packet inspection. Application Protection capabilities provide fast, accurate, reliable protection from internal and external cyber attacks. Through its Infrastructure Protection capabilities, UnityOne protects VoIP infrastructure, routers, switches, DNS and other critical infrastructure from targeted attacks and traffic anomalies. UnityOne Performance Protection capabilities enable customers to throttle non-mission critical applications that hijack valuable bandwidth and IT resources, thereby aligning network resources and business-critical application performance.
