McAfee has received the highest marks possible for detecting viruses in recent independent tests conducted by AV-Test.org, a highly accredited independent research organization specializing in the IT security industry.
According to the test results, McAfee's VirusScan for home users detected and removed 100% of viruses "in the wild" tested against it. Results of the anti-virus testing can be viewed at http://www.av-test.org . AV-Test.org collaborates with the Otto-Von-Guericke University of Magdeburg, Germany.
"Through our testing, McAfee VirusScan reported 100% detection of viruses 'in the wild'," said Andreas Marx, CEO of AV-Test.org. "Anti-virus solutions like McAfee VirusScan help to protect users from the many new viruses and other types of malware that appear every day."
McAfee VirusScan provides advanced, real-time protection against viruses, mass-mailing worms, Trojans, and potentially unwanted programs, such as spyware, adware and web dialers. McAfee VirusScan also helps protect against threats that may originate from e-mail, instant messaging, Internet downloads, file sharing programs and Web surfing, automatically detecting and cleaning known viruses before they attack the user's system. Designed for both novice computer users and online pros, McAfee VirusScan's award-winning threat prevention technology helps to provide a safe and worry-free online experience.
"AV-Test.org testing results further establish McAfee as a leading provider of advanced, real-time protection for home users against today's latest threats," said Brent Lymer, senior director product and partner management for McAfee Consumer Strategy and Marketing Group. "We are confident that home users can rely on McAfee VirusScan to automatically and proactively detect and clean infected files before they attack their system."
