CyberGuard announced the appointment of Mark Reese as chief operating officer.
An expert in overseeing the operational aspects of fast-growing, publicly-traded companies, Reese will step into the newly created position of COO to further advance and integrate the global operations of the information security company.

Reese brings 20 years of operations, technology, business management and consulting experience to CyberGuard. Most recently, Reese served as executive vice president and chief operating officer at GSI Commerce, a company which provides a sophisticated, proprietary e-commerce solution enabling retailers, branded manufacturers, entertainment companies and professional sports organizations to operate e-commerce businesses. Representative customers include Linens 'n Things, Liz Claiborne, NASCAR, The Sports Authority, Ace Hardware, Reebok, PalmOne and the Public Broadcasting Service. Reese was responsible for all operational areas at GSI including business operations, technology and product development, fulfillment and customer service.
Prior to GSI, Reese served as chief e-commerce officer for TOYSMART.com, a start-up Web-based commerce business that ultimately attracted the Walt Disney Company as a majority investor. Before joining TOYSMART, Reese was a senior manager of strategic services at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture). Prior to that, he served as managing associate at CSC Index, where he managed reengineering projects for a diverse client base across a variety of industries. He began his career at Price Waterhouse rising from staff consultant to senior manager.
Reese earned a Bachelor of Science degree in commerce from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia. While working at Price Waterhouse, he was awarded a full-time scholarship to attend the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He earned an MBA in finance, returning to Price Waterhouse upon graduation.
