OpenService announced that Top Layer Networks, will embed Open's Security Threat Manager (STM) product in a new enterprise threat prevention and management appliance.
This combination of SIM and IPS delivers better enterprise security by enabling inline attack blocking without interrupting valid business traffic. This industry milestone is also the first time SIM technology has been embedded as a critical part of an inline network security solution.
Using threats identified by Open's unique risk-based analysis algorithms, the new product will guide operators to modify Top Layer Networks Attack Mitigator IPS 5500 policies based on proprietary events reported from other IPS 5500s. Taking advantage of these unique data flows coming directly from Attack Mitigator appliances as part of its embedded event correlation, Open's technology also simplifies cross-IPS incident reporting and enterprise-wide IPS policy management, greatly reducing the time and effort required to configure and manage multiple Attack Mitigator IPS 5500 systems.
"Incorporating Open's STM into our innovative, high-performance intrusion prevention technologies enables enterprises to deploy in-line intrusion prevention systems without the risk of false positives," said Peter Rendall, CEO, Top Layer Networks. "STM's technical excellence, powerful risk analysis correlation, and the ease with which we were able to quickly create an integrated threat management appliance with it, were the critical factors in our decision to work with Open."
The agreement also allows users to upgrade their Top Layer Networks management appliances to a full installation of Open's STM, extending its threat analysis capabilities to firewalls, vulnerability scanners, other intrusion detection systems, network elements, and enterprise servers. This upgrade path provides greater threat identification intelligence, one-stop incident management and organization-wide reporting for all its deployed network- and host-based security systems.
"To successfully meet Top Layer Networks' demanding requirements as well as share their vision for integrated enterprise security was a challenge that only Open could satisfy," said Ted Joseph, Chairman and CEO, Open. "Enabling Top Layer IPS 5500 customers to intelligently modify their security posture based on STM's real-time risk assessment is a significant advance in intrusion prevention. It also brings the benefits of STM to a much broader market in a familiar form from a respected IPS industry leader: Top Layer Networks."
