Check Point Software has introduced Check Point InterSpect 2.0, the latest version of the company's innovative Internal Security Gateway.
InterSpect 2.0 includes enhanced functionality that provides integrated SMART management as well as further integration with the Check Point Integrity endpoint security solution that safeguards Internal networks from damaging cyber attacks introduced inside the corporate network.
"Attacks that proliferate inside the corporate network are especially damaging because they can cripple an organizations' productivity, resulting in thousands of dollars in damages. Today's customers are realizing that Internal security has its own unique requirements that are separate and distinct from Perimeter security," said Lawrence Orans, Principal Analyst, Gartner Inc. "Ideally, enterprises need to combine a worm prevention solution -- for example one that can scan and block -- with a worm containment solution to combat the threat of Internal attacks."
Introduced in January 2004, Check Point InterSpect is a first of its kind Internal Security Gateway that blocks the spread of worms and attacks inside the network and provides pre-emptive attack protection. It enables proactive and dynamic protection for known and unknown attacks, enabling organizations to defend against vulnerabilities before they are exploited. The new features available with InterSpect 2.0 include:
-- Integrated SMART Management -- InterSpect 2.0 is centrally managed and deployed from Check Point's unrivaled SMART management architecture, allowing administrators to effectively configure and manage multiple gateways with a minimal learning curve.
-- One-click SmartDefense Updates -- InterSpect 2.0 allows administrators to retrieve and activate new defenses for multiple InterSpect gateways in a single operation.
-- Endpoint Security Integration -- InterSpect 2.0 works cooperatively with Integrity to ensure that all endpoints are in compliance with security policies before providing access to the network. For clients not using Integrity, InterSpect provides defense-in-depth by inspecting traffic for malicious activity.
-- Integrated Logging And Reporting -- InterSpect 2.0 logs are easily and centrally viewed in SmartCenter, including comprehensive reporting and analysis of traffic and attack trends through SmartView Reporter.
-- Intensified Mail Security -- InterSpect 2.0 provides proactive protection that recognizes and stops malicious behavior by restricting messages delivered to the network using POP3/IMAP protocols, preventing the spread of mail borne worms.
"Our customers have expressed the need to advance their Internal security tools and defenses," said Gonen Fink, vice president, solutions and strategy, Check Point Software. "InterSpect 2.0 marks a major milestone in our product innovation. With this release, Check Point is taking a vital step to raise the bar for Internal security defenses, and we are reinforcing our commitment to driving leadership in the attack prevention marketplace."
