Xacta Corporation released Xacta IA Manager Service Pack 3, an upgrade to the company's market-leading Xacta IA Manager offering.

The upgrade is scheduled for general availability on November 5, 2004. Xacta, a leading supplier of government-validated secure enterprise solutions, developed Xacta IA Manager to address regulatory compliance and risk management requirements, as well as to automate many information technology (IT) security management business processes such as vulnerability management and remediation. Service Pack 3 upgrades include numerous enhancements to the comprehensive information security risk management solution related to security features, product manageability and installation, and management reporting.

Enhancements in Service Pack 3 include:

-- Improved security features, including end-user public key infrastructure (PKI) certificate support, support for mandated special characters as part of passwords, and the delegation of audit and administrative privileges to specific administrative accounts

-- Quicker access to executive-level security status information. Such information is presented in an easy-to-read graphical format that includes assessment expirations and objectives, as well as current system status details

-- Enhanced installation utility that provides users with three installation options, including: 1) streamlined installation for single-server or workstation environments; 2) easy-to-use, automated upgrade process for existing customers; and 3) custom installation for users wanting to install the application across multiple servers

-- Greater flexibility in engaging Xacta's patent-pending Continuous Assessment feature to automatically and simultaneously collect asset information across multiple network segments

-- Updated content to include all of the latest updates and enhancements from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800 series and Department of Defense (DoD) 8500 series publications in Xacta Knowledgebase. The latest DoD and NIST updates ensure assessment projects remain compliant with the latest regulatory guidance

"Upgrades to Xacta IA Manager include numerous enhancements that our customers requested - and the upgrades are free of charge for customers who have active subscriptions," said Richard P. Tracy, chief security officer, Xacta Corporation. "Our product development team worked closely with customers to identify the features that would provide the most value to them as they build strong IT security risk management and compliance strategies. These upgrades provide powerful enhancements to help organizations better manage organizational IT risk posture."
