Symantec today announced that John W. Thompson, Symantec's chairman and chief executive officer, will keynote at the 2004 Commonwealth of Virginia's Information Technology Symposium (COVITS) on Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 2:15 p.m. ET in Norfolk, Va.
In his keynote address, titled "Information Integrity: A New Realm for Information Security," Thompson will discuss the role of technology in enabling businesses and government to deliver better services for consumers; the impact of Internet threats on communications and information-sharing; and how businesses, governments, and consumers can work together in partnership to ensure the security and availability of information.
Now in its sixth year, COVITS is Virginia's signature annual business and technology event, hosted by Governor Mark Warner and Secretary of Technology George C. Newstrom. The COVITS 2004 theme is "Virginia -- Portal to the Emerging Global Marketplace." The conference will examine the state of the information age through those public and private organizations dealing with defense, medical, government, communications, manufacturing, education, and IT industries.
