European enterprises rank Symantec, Cisco and IBM as the three most trusted security service vendors, according to the Yankee Group 2004 Managed Security Services Survey.
These results vary only slightly from the rankings in the U.S. sample, where VeriSign edged out IBM to rank in the top three.
"The players at the top of the U.S. vs. European samples vary only slightly," said Phebe Waterfield, Yankee Group Security Solutions & Services analyst. "What's really interesting are some of the regional differences once we get beyond these top ranks. For instance, Ernst & Young has done a remarkable job emerging as a stronger European security services brand. Specifically, E&Y doubled its most trusted recognition in Europe when compared with the U.S. survey segment. In contrast, Internet Security Systems, which barely made the top 10 in the U.S. sample, fared even worse in the European survey segment."
The survey also showed FiberLink lagging behind its competitors iPass, GRIC and AT&T for trusted security services recognition in Europe.
