Secure Computing today announced the new version of SafeWord RemoteAccess v. 2.0, which provides protection from password theft through strong authentication for organizations running Microsoft Windows servers by integrating directly with Active Directory, rather than requiring a separate database or using complex directory synchronization.

Additionally, SafeWord RemoteAccess v2.0 and new authentication tokens have met the Cisco AVVID (Architecture for Voice and Video Integrated Data) Security and VPN Partner Program test criteria for interoperability with the following Cisco products:

-- Cisco VPN client version 4.0.3

-- Cisco VPN Concentrator with version 3.6.7

-- PIX 520 with version 6.3.3

-- Cisco 3640 router with IOS version 12.2(19)

This new solution was designed for channel sales, and can be sold as an add-on for Cisco network-integrated security solutions.

Secure Computing joined the Cisco AVVID Partner Program as a Security and VPN Solution participant. Through participation in the Cisco AVVID Partner Program, SafeWord RemoteAccess v2.0 provides strong authentication solutions to enterprise customers.

The Cisco AVVID Partner Program sets criteria for interoperability testing by independent third parties and enables leading product and services firms to deploy innovative business solutions. The program provides enterprise customers with information regarding Cisco AVVID partner products and services that an independent testing facility has tested and found to interoperate with Cisco networking technology.

"We're very satisfied with the integrated solution Cisco and Secure Computing provide for securing access to our proprietary data," said Alexei Bobrowsky, Network Administrator at DocComply. "As a HIPAA-compliant application service provider to physicians, it was imperative that we truly secure our network and our clients' data. I found it easy to implement and roll out. Combining SafeWord's unique technology with a Cisco PIX is an outstanding, low-cost approach to a higher level of security."

The Cisco AVVID Security and VPN partners complement and incorporate capabilities that form the Cisco Self Defending Network strategy. The foundation for a self-defending network is integrated security. Each device in the network, from desktops through the LAN and across the WAN, plays a part in securing the networked environment through a globally distributed defense system.

Cisco AVVID Security and VPN partners are dedicated to the continued evolution of the Cisco network security vision and to working together on technology and solutions that create proactive, resilient, and intelligent network and endpoint security for our customers.

"Cisco supports open, standards-based architectures and shares a commitment to interoperable solutions with Secure Computing. Through this vision the Cisco AVVID Partner Program delivers the power of choice to enterprises--the ability to extend the Cisco end-to-end architecture with our participants' solid products and technologies," said Sue Flaherty, Program Manager, Cisco AVVID Security & VPN Program at Cisco Systems. "With Cisco AVVID partner offerings such as Secure Computing's SafeWordRemoteAccess v. 2.0 customers can deploy a broad range of business solutions that foster innovation and drive rapid adoption of business-critical technologies."

SafeWord RemoteAccess v2.0 is specifically designed to protect access to Cisco networking products, enabling organizations to easily implement strong authentication for remote users and administrators, helping to greatly reduce vulnerabilities associated with the use of fixed passwords. SafeWord RemoteAccess v2.0 provides protection from password theft through strong authentication for organizations running Microsoft Windows servers by integrating directly with Active Directory, rather than requiring a separate database or using complex directory synchronization.

"With SafeWord RemoteAccess, the vast number of organizations using Cisco products that have been verified interoperable with this new version of SafeWord RemoteAccess can now benefit from our simple and elegant solution for strong authentication," said Jay Goldlist, vice president, Enterprise Security Division at Secure Computing. "This product is well suited for the Cisco channel -- it is simple to sell, and easy to implement, giving our partners an easy way to generate new revenue opportunities with add-on sales."

SafeWord RemoteAccess secures connections to Cisco VPNs, RADIUS-compliant devices, Citrix applications, and Microsoft Outlook Web Access, and cost-effectively allows organizations of all sizes to implement strong authentication. Secure Computing also provides SmartFilter web filtering for the Cisco PIX, Cisco Content Engine, and Cisco Routers.

SafeWord RemoteAccess with Cisco compatible branded tokens is available through Comstor, Inc. Simplified pricing combines tokens, software licenses, and support, starting at $99 per user.
