In the first full product review of the most current release of the BorderWare MXtreme Mail Firewall, Information Security magazine writer Ryan Guzal praised the new version 4.0 product for its robust feature set, rich reporting capabilities and ease-of-use.
He states that "BorderWare has delivered a feature-rich e-mail firewall at a time when the e-mail market is center stage," and recommends that "if mail security is your pain point, BorderWare's MXtreme Mail Firewall is an effective remedy."
Information Security, the #1 source of information and insight for infosecurity decision-makers worldwide, reviewed MXtreme 4.0 running on the model MX-1000, BorderWare's high end model; a single MX-1000 is capable of handling 100,000 messages per hour with all its protection features enabled.
In his review, which is featured in the September issue, Guzal cites that "managing and securing enterprise e-mail is a critical, complex task" but MXtreme "is a multifaceted device that delivers baseline e-mail security (antivirus, antispam and content filtering), as well as advanced services, such as administering local user accounts, forwarding e-mail and scanning and receiving mail for multiple domains." Guzal applauds MXtreme's "rich set of reports and reporting mechanisms," and notes the "High Availability Load Optimization (HALO) technology, which provides clustering, load balancing and failover/queue replication to ensure that mail is never lost in the event of a failure". Guzal also points out that "the device can be configured and deployed in about an hour and it boasts a feature set that's as comprehensive as it is diverse."
In the past 12 months, MXtreme has continued to garner positive media recognition. In a recent eWEEK review, writer Michael Caton lauded MXtreme as "a flexible e-mail infrastructure appliance that combines solid security features with easy manageability." MXtreme was also rated the most secure, best price-performer in a Federal Computer Week review, bettering competitive products because of MXtreme's Common Criteria security certification, sophisticated anti-spam engines and advanced management and failover capabilities. MXtreme was also honored with a Network Computing 2004 Well-Connected Finalist Award in spam prevention in a rigorous roundup of 35 products, while SC Magazine rewarded MXtreme with a 4-star review and recognized the product as being the only email firewall appliance among the "Best of 2003."
"The accolades of MXtreme from industry media confirm what our customers already know about our product," said John Alsop, CEO, BorderWare Technologies. "MXtreme is the benchmark for email security."
