EnvoyWorldWide today announced that McAfee has leveraged its automated notification services for over four years to deliver personalized messages to over 4000 customers.
McAfee's proactive and customizable fee-based alerting tool, PSVANS, notifies customers of viruses and vulnerabilities as they arise and of product patches or upgrades as they become available. To ensure continuity of operations for customers, the solution delivers notifications to customers within 15 minutes through each customer's preferred mode(s) of contact via EnvoyWorldWide's communications network.
Originally interested in delivering virus alerts beyond email distribution, McAfee engaged with EnvoyWorldWide in 1999 to leverage EnvoyXpress, the company's highly scalable communications platform which includes a multimodal delivery engine, real-time tracking capabilities and interactive, two-way functionality. After successfully alerting customers to virus threats, McAfee further expanded the scope of its alerts to include software vulnerabilities and critical product information, making it one of the key modes of customer communication.
This proactive approach to notifying customers about disruptive events helps to mitigate potentially devastating results by alerting customers within minutes of identifying a threat. As an added benefit, EnvoyWorldWide's services alleviate the burden of McAfee support technicians and call center employees from having to manually provide this information to the customer base.
In July 2003, McAfee expanded its relationship with EnvoyWorldWide by implementing EnvoyProfiles, for an added level of opt-in self-service, allowing recipients to determine when, where and how they receive interactive voice and text notifications. EnvoyProfiles quickly became a critical component of McAfee's PSVANS subscription service as it enables customers to create and maintain personal profiles that specify their preferred contact methods and individual schedules for each event type to which they subscribe.
"EnvoyWorldWide's proven technology provides us with the ability to rapidly disseminate actionable intelligence to the right person on the communications device of their choice so our customers can take necessary courses of action to protect their assets," explained Shari Ahlberg, director of global supportability of McAfee. "Our customers have enthusiastically embraced this critical offering, and because the service is so flexible, we continue to identify ways to expand our notification processes to include alerts on other relevant topics including new and expiring services."
"Recently, we had two low-profile virus alerts within one day of each other. In both cases, we received the necessary information from McAfee, delivered briefly and succinctly through the new and improved PSVAN service," explained Tim Arthey from RS Components. "My organization is truly grateful that McAfee has made its strong support service even better by leveraging EnvoyWorldWide's automated notification solutions."
According to the Aberdeen Group, Inc., organizations suffer an average of $2 million loss from Internet-related security incidents that are disrupting core business operations. With McAfee's notification service, the company has successfully helped its customers mitigate losses by being made aware of the threats in real-time, enabling them to take action immediately.
"With Internet security threats emerging every day, McAfee is continuously faced with the challenge of communicating immediately with its customers about the latest incidents and solutions," said Ben Levitan, president and CEO of EnvoyWorldWide. "It is extremely rewarding to see the system scale with McAfee's increasing application needs from virus and vulnerability alerts to software patches. Having worked closely with McAfee for over four years, it is clear that this company is dedicated to protecting its customers and the success of the program underscores the value it provides to its users."
