Dr. Dennis Moreau Discusses Best Practices for Repairing and Avoiding Configuration Shift and Drift.
Configuresoft today announced Dr. Dennis Moreau, CTO, will be presenting at ISACA's Information Security Management Conference on September 15, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. at the Caesars Palace, Las Vegas. Dr. Moreau will share his expertise on providing a successful network configuration management roadmap by analyzing the proper configuration intelligence.
Most organizations have clearly established configuration standards designed to ensure their systems are secure. Over time, however, unplanned change can cause these standardized configurations to drift out of compliance and expose security vulnerabilities. Left unchecked, this configuration drift can create a network with a split personality: the network believes it is secure and its configurations are in place vs. the actual set of configurations are out-of-compliance with security policies. Efficiently negotiating a path between the deployed enterprise configuration and the desired enterprise configuration requires good configuration intelligence.
This session will present strategies that permit corporate IT departments to routinely monitor, audit and remediate system configurations to avoid drift and vulnerabilities that plague networks.
Attendees will learn:
-- Identify the triggers of Network "Split Personality" syndrome: Configuration Drift and Shift
-- Understand the principle causes of configuration drift and respond the principle drivers of configuration shift;
-- Address the implications for effective methodologies, processes and toolsets using real world case studies; and
-- Evaluate technologies that will help repair and avoid drift and shift to maximize security compliance and minimize vulnerabilities
