The software provides protection for 100% of the Symbian market including Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Siemens, Motorola, BenQ and Arima.

FB-4 Inc., an innovator in mobile computing devices software, announces today the availability of a new suite of enterprise-grade software and services for Symbian OS smartphones. The security suite works with Samsung, Nokia, Siemens, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, BenQ, and Arima devices. FB-4 Virus Guard prevents virus intrusions and malicious code from attacking mobile devices and business networks. The suite is available via direct download from smartphone handsets and also features SMS call blocking and data encryption.

The suite application, created for both corporate and general clients, utilizes a user-friendly interface and hassle-free implementation. The software is installed onto the mobile device and administers both on-demand, user-initiated scans and contains a real-time monitor working behind the scenes. An over-the-air (OTA) distribution framework allows such applications to run with no wires or PC synchronization.

FB-4 is the first company to release enterprise-grade software and services to specifically protect the best-in-breed Symbian smartphones against viruses and other malicious code that can pose a growing threat to the individual consumer and business users of these devices. Widely reported events, such as the My Doom PC virus released onto the World Wide Web in February 2004 that used personal computers to attack company web sites, the Cabir worm created in June to spread via Bluetooth-enabled Symbian handsets, and the Mosquito trojan released in August that feeds on Symbian devices, have highlighted the need for individuals and businesses to take preventive steps against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.

"Our software applications and services, combined with the right wireless carrier technologies and distribution, provide the data and network safety blanket, ease of deployment, and low initial cost structures necessary to further increase smartphone usage in the US, Europe and Asia Pacific," declared George Tuvell, President, and the chief technical architect at FB-4.
