Symantec today announced it will host a webcast discussing spam.
The one-hour webcast, titled "The Spam Problem," will be held on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, at 9:00 a.m. PDT. Attendees can register here.
The webcast will be led by Carlin Wiegner, director of product management at Symantec. The presentation will enable IT security personnel and decision makers to understand the spam problem and how using a multi-layered solution can significantly curb spam in the workplace. Topics covered in the webcast will include:
-- The evolving spam threat, from simple annoyance to punishable crime
-- Types and sources of spam
-- The negative impact of spam on the enterprise as it undermines user productivity, introduces potential legal liability, and increases the burden on IT staff, infrastructure, and budget
-- The latest antispam blocking and filtering technologies available that effectively stop spam, ensure nearly 100 percent accuracy, and require minimal IT administration
"Today's profit-driven spammers are targeting exposed enterprises, flooding corporate inboxes, and threatening the profitability and continuity of businesses," said Wiegner. "Even as recent legislation aims to control spam by increasing legal penalties associated with it, enterprises need to adopt a proactive approach to this growing epidemic by understanding the problem and leveraging state-of-the-art filtering technologies to prevent spam from entering the workplace."
