Symantec today announced that four Symantec security experts will speak at the 2004 Air Force Information Technology Conference (AFITC), Aug. 29-Sept. 2, at the Montgomery Civic Center in Montgomery, Ala.
In its eighteenth year, AFITC hosts IT professionals from the military services, government agencies and industry partners and focuses on how best to apply technology in accomplishing varied mission objectives.
On Monday, Aug. 30, Symantec experts will give the following presentations:
-- At 2 p.m., Don Kleinschnitz, vice president of development for Symantec's enterprise administration business unit, will present "Deploy, Control and Protect: Ensuring a Secure Lifecycle for IT Assets." The presentation will detail the growing convergence of network management with systems and storage management and describe information security strategies leveraging all three disciplines to effectively maintain the integrity of hardware and software assets.
-- At 3 p.m., Cori Lynn Arnold, senior security consultant, will present "Turning Network Attack Reality Into Vision." Arnold's presentation will describe how government organizations are utilizing powerful data analysis and correlation tools to rapidly convert high volumes of network security data into accurate, comprehensive measurements of enterprise risk.
On Tuesday, Aug. 31, Symantec experts will give the following presentations:
-- At 2 p.m., Steve Trilling, vice president of research and advanced development, will present: "The Changing Face of Security: How To Stop a Speeding Bullet." Trilling's presentation will explore security challenges pertaining to vulnerabilities, malicious code and intrusion techniques while previewing technologies to counter future threats.
-- At 3 p.m., Tim Balog, senior system engineer, will present: "From Information Overload to Actionable Alerts: Threat Intelligence for Critical IT Systems." The presentation will describe tools and strategies for collecting early warning information on network vulnerabilities and threats. Balog will also explain how this intelligence is complementing ongoing information security operations in commercial and government organizations.
