It appears as if Google's search engine is going to be offering a couple of other options for users to employ when they conduct queries. The new features will allow people to search for audio and video clips. However, the Google management team has given no confirmation of these features.

According to an article that appeared in the New York Post, Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page discussed these features at a retreat hosted by Allen & Co. in Sun Valley, an investment bank located in Idaho.

Currently, AltaVista allows users to search for files using these options. AOL Search also purchased Singingfish in order to incorporate audio and video search.

Until these features are introduced, the only "multimedia" Google searched was NPR's audio archive. However, NPR's audio segments are transcribed into text files in order for Google's spider to crawl them. This indicates that Google's searchable index is still based on text and image content.
