Today, Lycos announced the launch of the HotBot Desktop search toolbar. The HotBot Desktop allows users to search the web, giving the results in a browser window.

HotBot's Internet search fucntion isn't much different than the other search engine toolbars available. What separates HotBot DT from the rest of the group is the ability to search your local computer. This function allows you to search local files, mail clients, browser history, and RSS subscriptions.

The RSS search gives users the ability to search from a predetermined list of RSS feeds. Users can also add feeds to the searchable list, as well as subscribe to new ones.

Of course, HotBot Desktop also comes with a built in pop-up blocker. It is adjustable to allow specific pop-ups that the user wants to see.
