In an effort to make it easier for search engines to read content, eBay has announced they are changing the format of their link structure of their eBay stores.
Besides making them easier to search, the link changes were done to drive more traffic to eBay's stores. The previous Store URLs that may have looked like one of these:
http://www.stores.ebay.com/myebaystorename
Or
http://stores.ebay.com/id=1234567
The new hyperlink will look like:
http://stores.ebay.com/my-ebay-store-name.
With the older style of link structure, search engines would index each variation of a store link. This new style eliminates that. The new link format will cut down on search result dilution.
Because of the URL switch, page rankings may be lower to start out with until the search engines adapt to the new format. Old store links will continue to work and redirect potential buyers to the newer URL and therefore, your eBay store.
