At the rate they're going they could end the world next week. So mark your calendars. But please-please oh please-stop trying to hack their systems. Only they know how to prevent a black hole from sucking us into oblivion, and messing with their junk is just a bad idea, right?

The "Greek Security Team" thought otherwise this weekend, hacking a CERN website and defacing it to prove a point and to digitally pants CERN scientists in the interest of teaching them a lesson.
"We're pulling your pants down because we don't want to see you running around naked looking to hide yourselves when the panic comes," wrote the hackers, who presumably thereafter whacked a dog on the nose and gave the weakest geek-link a massive wedgie.
The hackers were targeting the Compact Muon Solenoid Experiment, one quarter of the greatest experiment man has ever conducted, just to show CERN could be hacked. Though officials at CERN denied the hackers' claims they could actually hack past the website-to the systems that matter-one insider said "it's hard enough to make these things work if no one is messing with it."
Um, no crap, dude. Let me say it again. If there's a slim chance of Earth-swallowing black holes, it's best not to pull the pants down of the guys who know how to keep that from happening.
Without giving specifics, the logic behind it, and not seeming to notice the defacement was in Greek, Telegraph.co.uk says one of the scientists suspects American collider competitors of being careless with their access details. Hey, when in doubt, blame the Americans, right? It's pretty fashionable these days, I guess.
Here's a better idea: Drop the croissant and fix your back door before it opens wide enough to swallow up all the chocolate in Switzerland.
There, I feel better. Where are my freedom fries?
