Criminals continue to plague World of Warcraft players with attempts to phish their login details and other information, and steal their gold and loot.

Email scams cost criminals little, but they can score big if the recipients aren't paying attention. The items and gold people collect during the course of play in World of Warcraft have value to those who would like to buy their way up the food chain in Axeroth and beyond.
Security vendor Symantec noted these phishing scams show no signs of abating. A recent phish spotted by a security researcher there contained a masked link pointing to a nicely faked login page.
"The page is made to appear quite convincing, which is not that surprising because they just copied everything and used direct linking to all the original images," Symantec's Candid Wüest said.
Even if someone clicks on the link in the phish, the URL gives away the destination site as a fake. The phish message helpfully noted that "you should make sure that you are on a page that starts with „httpS://www.worldofwarcraft.com/," which the phish does not lead to with its link.
World of Warcraft owner Blizzard Entertainment said on its account security page there are only four places where a player should type in their password:
- The World of Warcraft game login screen.
- The Account Management page on the official site (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/account/)
- The World of Warcraft Armory page (https://www.wowarmory.com/login.xml).
- The official World of Warcraft forums (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com)
