Sunbelt Software's Alex Eckelberry has become tired of seeing Fastclick ads popping up on Snopes, pushing an adware-laden product.

After six months of no response from urban legend collector Snopes, Eckelberry decided to publish his observation about the issue.
"Snopes is pushing adware because it makes them money. And I believe it's a lot of money," he said. "And that's not an urban legend. It's shameful."
The popup in question reads 'Do you want to block Junk Emails?' Installing the adware product adds a lot of potentially unwanted programs and functions to the downloader's computer.
Eckelberry contended this popup in particular appears a lot on Snopes. "Advertisers like Zango don't pay to run ads that don't get a good response," he said.
"A site like Snopes won't waste valuable ad inventory on poorly-paying ads. And I firmly believe that the fact that the ads do well is because of Snopes' credibility."
