USAjobs.gov, managed by the federal Office of Personnel Management, has been warning its users that the attack on Monster.com also exposed their personal information.

Visitors to USAjobs.gov will see an alert, advising them some contact information may have been compromised.
"The information captured included name, address, telephone number, and email address," USAjobs said in its advisory.
"Monster Worldwide has assured the U.S. Office of Personnel Management that Social Security Numbers were NOT compromised because of IT security shields USAjobs has in place." Social Security numbers are critical to identity thieves, due to their widespread use as unique identifiers.
USAjobs also asked people to be aware of phishing emails purportedly from Monster.com or USAjobs, and to not click on links in unsolicited messages. Neither site will ask people for personal information via email as a rule.
Monster became subject to the breach when someone with valid recruiter credentials had their machine compromised by attackers, who promptly stole login details for the job site. One server that had been collecting job seeker personal data has already been shutdown in the aftermath of the fiasco.
