Microsoft and Yahoo will be among the panel participants at the Federal Trade Commission's two-day Spam Summit in Washington DC.

FTC Chairman Deborah Platt Majoras and others will discuss spam and related topics like malware during their Spam Summit workshop.
Several technology firms will participate. Microsoft's representatives have been slated to talk about deterring spammers and other criminals, and reducing the amount of spam people receive.
Yahoo Mail's senior product manager, Miles Libbey, will be part of the discussion about empowering email users in their battle against malware and spam.
IBM, AOL, and Cisco will likewise take part in the agenda, as will members of the FBI and the Justice Department.
The DOJ has been the center of one spamming effort that aimed at placing trojans on people's computers. Fake, official-looking messages allegedly from the Justice Department arrived with an attachment that asked people to run an associated file, in reality a trojan installer.
