Jeffrey Toback, a member of the Nassau County Legislature on Long Island, filed a 16-page complaint against Google in New York State Supreme Court.

Toback slammed Google by claiming the company had taken money for ads promoting child pornography. He said in an AP report that Google has paid links to kiddie porn sites.
"This case is about a multi-billion dollar company that promotes and profits from child pornography," read part of the complaint the married father of three children filed.
Google immediately denied Toback's allegations in a statement. "When we find or are made aware of any child pornography, we remove it from our products, including our search engine," spokesman Steve Langdon said. "We also report it to the appropriate law enforcement officials and fully cooperate with the law enforcement community to combat child pornography."
Toback alleged in his complaint that Google "refuses to spend a dime's worth of resources to block child pornography from reaching children or to filter out search terms such as 'child pornography' or 'kiddie porn' or the content to which such terms lead."
He also invoked Google's involvement in China, and its willingness to comply with Beijing's censors in order to have access to that growing market with a local presence.
The report also noted that Toback had not contacted Google about the problem before filing the lawsuit, which makes his action look like political grandstanding. His reasoning? From the article: "This is a proactive step to keep children safe. We had to go the judicial route."
