Virus authors have found new prey. They are going after Symbian based cell phones with a new trojan horse that kills applications and replaces their icons with a skull image.

Simply called "Skulls", the new program comes disguised as a theme manager for Nokia phones in the Symbian Installation System format, according to Mikko Hypponen, director of antivirus research for F-Secure.
The number of downloads are minimal, "we are not talking about a huge amount of infected people, and it is not a virus, so it is not spreading," Hypponen said. "It does no permanent damage. But it does mean that people are investing time in investigating the possibilities" for infecting and damaging mobile phones, he said.
LANDesk Launches Security Suite. LANDesk, makers of the LANDesk Management Suite, has announced the launch of their security software package, the LANDesk Security Suite. The software suite is considered to be the first enterprise-level, centrally managed anti-spyware solution on the market.
The LANDesk Security Suite was designed so that it could be integrated with LANDesk's other software packages. One of the goals of the company is to provide a complete centralized management system, reducing the workload on various IT and sysadmin departments around the globe. Because of this aim, the security suite, along with their other packages, are completely scalable. The majority of updating capabilities and other features are controlled by the admin's discretion.
A quote from Dave R. Taylor, vice president of worldwide marketing, indicated the company's goals quite clearly, "With LANDesk Security Suite, we continue expanding our device management solutions in direct response to customer needs for greater security at the desktop, laptop and mobile device level. By tightly integrating increased security management capabilities with our robust systems management architecture, we intend to provide the market's most comprehensive patch, asset and security management solution."
Bill Gates Believes Spam Will Be Eliminated Within Two Years. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates believes spam will be a thing of the past within two years. He did not elaborate on his definition of spam.
"Spam is a major security problem," Mr. Gates told a group in Madrid. "We hope this problem will be under control within two years,"
Gates comments come on the heels of Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer's remark that he and Bill Gates are the most spammed individuals in the world.
The level of spam has gone down as "new technologies are bringing it under control", Mr Gates said. "Governments are also increasingly handing out tough sentences to spammers they catch."
