Wireless
connectivity has dramatically improved the way telecommuters, traveling workers,
small companies and branches of large organizations exchange information.
Yet a recent report assembled by wireless network hackers
exposed an alarming statistic - 72% of wireless networks lack even the most basic
security measures. If you access
sensitive information while you’re attached to a wireless network, it’s
likely that you’re putting your data, and perhaps your whole company, at
risk. That’s
the bad news.
The good news? You don’t have to give up the convenience
of wireless access to stay secure. NETGEAR's FVM 318 keeps hackers at
bay by providing three distinct levels of network security. The highly innovative
VPN (Virtual Private Network) implementation offered by the FVM318, secures your
wireless network by providing user authorization, access authentication and state
of the art data encryption over the wireless LAN.
This single, easy-to-install-and-use package
is a seven-in-one device that provides business-class wireless security and includes:
| • |
Wireless LAN security device using VPN over wireless
LAN (VoWL) technology, compatible with 802.11b or 802.1g wireless adapters |
| • |
802.11b wireless access point |
| • |
IPSec VPN server for wireless LAN and WAN connections—up
to
102 VPN tunnels |
| • |
Stateful Packet Firewall to protect against Denial of Service
(DoS) attacks and hackers |
| • |

The
FVM318 wireless firewall provides host assigned access for registered network
users. Each user can be authenticated and granted access
to the network by the included VPN client. Once authenticated, all data transferred
by users over the wireless LAN can be hidden from potential intruders via user
selectable 156 bit IPSEC 3DES or by U.S. Government backed 256-bit AES data encryption.
VPN based encryption standards available on the FVM318 provide levels of data
security far beyond that which is offered by WEP security in WiFi networks today.
